FRÉDÉRIC STUCIN

The Portrait: From Encounter to Series
The Encounter, the Light, the Image
Festival Workshop
Sale price€1.490,00

This portrait workshop is an opportunity for Frédéric Stucin to share a practice he has been developing for more than twenty years, between press commissions, personal projects and major campaigns.

At the heart of his approach: the relationship with the model. How to approach them, how to talk to them, how to build the trust from which a true image can emerge. Participants then learn to construct a world through light — natural or artificial — drawing on the unique setting Venice offers: its reflections on the water, its alleyways, its façades and the particular softness of its light.

The workshop continues with editing: knowing how to choose an image, then learning to look further to build a coherent series.

A Venetian immersion to experiment with the portrait, from the encounter to the editing, and to refine one's eye alongside one of France's most recognised portrait photographers.

Please note: this workshop is conducted in French.

BIO

Frédéric Stucin, born in 1977, studied at the Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg and graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure Louis Lumière. Based in Paris, he has worked since 2002 with the French daily Libération, photographing numerous public figures — actors, singers, writers and politicians. His images are widely published in the French and international press: Elle, Le Monde, l'Obs, Grazia, GQ, Les Inrockuptibles, Vanity Fair, Time Magazine, Newsweek, Stern.

Alongside his editorial work, he pursues personal projects, including a black-and-white street photography series in the United States, an avowed nod to the great American masters (Garry Winogrand, Lee Friedlander, Harry Callahan). One of France's most recognised portrait photographers, he regularly leads workshops, notably on portraiture at the Rencontres d'Arles.
