STEVE MCCURRY

Venice Through the Lens: Light on the Lagoon
Sale price€4.490,00 Finance my workshop

Join world-renowned photographer Steve McCurry for an immersive photographic workshop in Venice and its lagoon.

Designed for photographers looking to develop both their vision and their practice, this experience offers a unique opportunity to explore Venice from a different perspective, alongside one of the most influential photographers of our time.

Aboard iconic Venetian water taxis, you will venture across the lagoon at sunrise, when the city is at its quietest and the light at its most beautiful. From hidden corners of Venice to the colourful streets of Burano and the open landscapes of the lagoon, each outing is designed to help you observe, compose and tell stronger visual stories.

The workshop combines guided shooting sessions with Steve McCurry, independent shooting time to develop your own projects, and private portfolio reviews offering personalized feedback on your work. Throughout the experience, Steve will share his approach to photography, storytelling and image-making, helping you refine both your technique and your creative eye.

More than a workshop, it is an opportunity to experience Venice and its lagoon through photography, while building a meaningful body of work in an exceptional setting.

Bio

Steve McCurry has been one of the most emblematic voices in contemporary photography for over forty years, with more than twenty books and numerous exhibitions worldwide.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, McCurry studied film and art photography at Pennsylvania State University. After several years of freelance work, McCurry made the first of many trips to South Asia. With only a bag of clothes and another of film, he traveled the subcontinent, exploring the region with his camera.

After several months' travel, he met a group of Afghan refugees who smuggled him across the border into their country, while the Russian invasion was underway. After weeks spent with the mujahideen, McCurry brought back to the world some of the first images of the conflict in Afghanistan.

Since then, McCurry has continued to create stunning images. His work covers conflict, disappearing cultures, ancient traditions and contemporary culture, while retaining the human element.

Mr. McCurry has received some of the industry's most prestigious awards, including the Robert Capa Gold Medal. The French Minister of Culture also named him Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and, more recently, the Royal Photographic Society in London awarded him the Centenary Medal for Lifetime Achievement.
