A workshop with Elizaveta Porodina and Josef Beyer

Photography has the power to do more than document reality. It can transform memory into image, emotion into atmosphere, and imagination into a visual world.

This workshop is led by photographer and visual artist Elizaveta Porodina, whose precisely curated images move between fashion, fine art and visual storytelling. It invites photographers, artists and visual storytellers to deepen their creative practice and develop a more distinctive visual language.

She is accompanied by her lighting designer and studio manager Josef Beyer, who opens up the practical realities behind contemporary photographic productions, from lighting and team coordination to working with professional models.

With Venice as a backdrop, participants move from concept to creation: building moodboards and visual worlds, then putting them into practice in collaborative portrait sessions, working with a muse in small teams.

Through lectures, discussions, collaborative exercises and individual portfolio reviews, the workshop explores inspiration, colour, narrative, authorship and the construction of personal photographic worlds.

The goal is not simply to create stronger photographs. It is to develop a stronger artistic perspective.

Bio

Elizaveta Porodina is a photographer and visual artist whose work explores memory, dreams, identity and transformation through precisely curated photographic worlds. Drawing on influences from psychology, cinema, painting and literature, her images blur the boundaries between reality and imagination, creating emotionally charged narratives that move between fashion, fine art and visual storytelling. Her work has been exhibited internationally and published by leading magazines and cultural institutions. Through her distinctive visual language, Porodina has established herself as one of the most recognisable contemporary voices working at the intersection of photography and art.

Josef Beyer is a lighting designer, producer and studio manager working across international editorial, commercial and artistic productions. His work focuses on translating creative ideas into practical production frameworks, overseeing lighting design, technical planning, logistics and team coordination for complex photographic projects. Working closely with Elizaveta Porodina, he helps bridge the gap between artistic vision and execution, supporting projects from initial concept development through production and final realization. His sessions provide participants with insight into the structures, collaboration processes and practical decision making that support contemporary large-scale photographic productions.

Participants looking primarily for technical instruction, camera tutorials or equipment demonstrations may find that this masterclass approaches photography from a different perspective.

The workshop is ultimately about creativity, artistic identity and the development of a personal vision. Photography is simply the medium through which these ideas are explored.
