PAUL CUPIDO

Haiku Photography: Autonomy, Intuition, Presence
The human sensory experience as subject
Sale price€1.690,00 Finance my workshop

“Resonant images are not produced, but allowed to happen.”
“Photography is an instrument for entering the present moment, not for extraction.”

- Paul Cupido

The human sensory experience is the subject.

During this four-day workshop, Paul Cupido invites participants into a poetic, embodied, and conscious approach to image-making, guided by the photographer with the presence of Anna, who will lead sensory and grounding practices throughout the workshop. This marks the very first workshop ever led by Paul Cupido, offering a rare and intimate opportunity to engage directly with his artistic practice. Together, they create a space where photography becomes a lived, human experience rooted in presence, intuition, and attention.

Participants will explore photography as an instrument for entering the present moment and working from inner impulse. Through breath, walking, listening, sensing, and slowing down, participants cultivate the conditions for images to happen rather than to be produced.

The focus shifts from “taking photographs” to allowing images to emerge through us: letting the image come to you. Participants will cultivate autonomy and experience photography as a living, human practice shaped by sensory perception and sense of place. Each participant develops an intuitively sequenced visual poem of 5–11 images. Rather than production or formula, images will arise from resonance between the photographer and the sense of place.

Bio

Born on a small Dutch island, Paul Cupido (b. 1972) grew up surrounded by nature.
“Our daily lives were punctuated by the seasons, the movement of the tides, and the phases of the moon.”
Paul Cupido creates a poetic and organic universe in which the human body and nature are sublimated. His images form “a fresco of experiences and memories reflecting the ephemerality of life.” His work is exhibited internationally in museums, galleries, public collections, and art fairs.
“My aim is to immerse myself to the point where I forget the photographic process altogether. Every step begins with the notion of mono no aware — the transience of everything, the gentle melancholy of things.”
