ISABEL MUÑOZ

The Body as a Vessel of Emotions
Exploring movement, intimacy, and emotional expression
Sale price€1.890,00 Finance my workshop

This four-day workshop led by Isabel Muñoz explores the human body as a channel for emotions and a site of deep expression. Drawing on more than forty years of work dedicated to the intimate, physical, and emotional states of the human being, Isabel invites participants to engage with the body not as a subject to be staged, but as a living territory of sensation, tension, vulnerability, and truth. Through close collaboration with professional dancers, participants investigate intimacy, presence, movement, and storytelling through the language of the body, where gesture and emotion become inseparable.

Blending guided sessions, individual exploration, and collective reflection, the workshop focuses on the development of a personal photographic series rooted in sensitivity rather than technique. In order to support this process, participants will be asked to submit a portfolio and a short letter of presentation prior to the workshop, allowing Isabel to understand their background, artistic approach, and expectations.

Attention is given to the relationship between photographer and subject, to the intensity of presence, and to the conscious act of image-making. Participants are encouraged to deepen their artistic sensibility, refine their visual language, and build images that resonate emotionally — images that emerge from listening, observation, and an intimate engagement with the body as a vessel of human experience.

Bio

For more than forty years, Isabel Muñoz has toured the world with her camera portraying the feelings ofthe human being in its purest state and intimacy. From the dignity of the primitive tribes to thedisconsolation of the prisons; from the sensuality of dance to the denunciation of oppression; from theecstasy that overcomes the lacerating pain to the pain that can no longer be overcome.

The Catalanartist has photographed almost all the feelings and emotions that the human species harbors, includingthose of our ancestors, primates, whose gestures have been part of our genes for millions of years.Lately she is working on the discovery in Turkey of Tas Tepeler, a new civilization that is changing allthe preconceived ideas of where do we come from.In 2016 she was recognized with the Spanish National Photography Award, having previously obtainedprestigious awards such as the 1999 and 2004 World Press Photo, the Bartolomé Ross, the Unicef Spain, the Gold Medal for Merit of the Fine Arts in 2009, the Premio de the Community of Madrid, etc.
