"The camera is the accomplice of the people I photograph, ready to share a part of their soul through their eyes. I do not care whether they are princes, queens, passers-by or beggars. As the years go by, their trust in me seems to grow even stronger. I no longer take a photograph; it is the people I have met, in struggle or in glory, who offer it to me"

- Reza

This four day workshop takes place within the unique atmosphere of Venice. Every location serves as a reminder that portraiture is born from a sensitive dialogue between the photographer the subject and the space that connects them.

Throughout the workshop learners explore the essential steps of portrait photography and visual storytelling. They learn to clarify their intention, observe with precision, build a relationship of trust and create a coherent series of images. The workshop also guides participants through the selection and presentation of their photographs including formats suitable for sharing on social media where clarity and visual consistency are key.

An optional component is available for those who wish to deepen their connection to words. Led by Rachel Degathi a French language writing session explores how text can accompany or extend a visual project and strengthen the impact of a photographic series.

Bio

Philanthropist, idealist, humanist, Reza's career began with architectural studies. He became a renowned photojournalist and has worked all over the world over the last three decades, notably for National Geographic.

His assignments have taken him to over a hundred countries as a witness to humanity's conflicts and disasters. His work has been featured in the international media (National Geographic, Time Magazine, Stern, Newsweek, El País, Paris Match, Geo...), as well as in a series of books, exhibitions and documentaries.

Alongside his work as a photographer, in 2001 he founded a new-generation NGO in Afghanistan, Ainaworld, which trains people in information and communication skills through the development of educational tools and adapted media.
